The first round of the Green Light Nostalgia League saw members digging into the archives to identify a classic Plymouth Argyle moment and the competitive banter certainly delivered.
The mystery photo featured former Argyle captain Paul Wotton in action at Home Park during the memorable fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on April 1, 2006, a game Argyle won 2–0. Players had to identify the player, opposition and year to claim the main points.
Scott Wardle was first to correctly identify all the core answers, Paul Wotton, Wolves and 2006 earning the maximum three points. Gary Searl was second to complete the set, picking up two points, while Tony Cannan took third with all the required answers correct, adding some impressive detail by pinning down the exact April 1 date and spotting Paul Ince in the background.
There’s also one extra point up for grabs in every round for the best answer, observation or piece of extra information, and this time the Star Spotlight Award goes to Brad Hore, who was first to spot Paul Ince’s unmistakable facial expression lurking in the background, proof that a great observation can still make a difference even if you’re not first to get all the main answers.
