Scott Wardle crowned Green Light Nostalgia League champion

After weeks of nostalgia, close calls and the occasional intervention from VAR, we finally have our Green Light Nostalgia League champion.

The title came down to a three way playoff between Scott Wardle, Gary Searl and Martin Oram, with three questions deciding the championship.

The photograph showed Argyle players applauding at Home Park. The correct answers were 2005, Reading and a tribute to football legend George Best, who had died shortly before the match.

Scott Wardle was the first of the three finalists to get two of the three answers correct, correctly identifying 2005 and George Best, although he went for Leicester rather than Reading.

Gary Searle also managed two out of three, but crucially his answers came after Scott’s. VAR has reviewed the situation and, with the possibility of a little tactical copying impossible to rule out, Scott keeps the advantage.

Martin Oram, meanwhile, had a day to forget in the playoff, going for Nottingham Forest and the London bombings.

There was, however, one perfect answer.

Nigel P Bodnar correctly identified November 2005, Reading and George Best, becoming the only person to get all three answers right.

Unfortunately for Nigel, there was one fairly significant problem: he wasn’t in the playoff final.

So after a long and fiercely contested Green Light Nostalgia League, the trophy goes to:

SCOTT WARDLE – Green Light NOSTALGIA LEAGUE CHAMPION

Congratulations Scott, and thanks to everyone who has taken part throughout the competition.
