Reform UK has accused Plymouth Labour of filibustering and deliberately running down the clock at Full Council, leaving opposition motions unheard.
Reform group leader Councillor Steve Ricketts said: “I have never seen filibustering from Plymouth Labour like this before. They wanted to run the clock down and go home so we could not debate our motions.
“They are running scared of having to debate the biggest issues that our country and Plymouth are facing.
“They are doing all they can, including relentless interruptions, to stop us talking about key issues such as legal and illegal immigration and putting British people first in Plymouth”
The criticism came after time ran out with several motions still to be heard.
Reform councillors backed extending the meeting for as long as necessary to complete the remaining council business, but the proposal was defeated after Labour and Restore Britain voted against continuing.
Reform deputy leader Councillor Chris Sharpe also criticised council leader Tudor Evans following comments about having a home and family to go to.
“I’m sure people will be thrilled to hear that Tudor Evans has got a home to go to and a family. If only everyone were so lucky,” Sharpe said.
“We were elected to work for this city. Reform UK would happily have stayed as long as it took to see the council agenda through to the end.
“We will continue to work as hard as possible to get things done.”
