Reform Has Love on the Agenda as Plymouth Councillor Gets Down on One knee.
There were smiles, applause and one huge surprise in Plymouth yesterday after Reform councillor Andrew Crumplin got down on one knee and proposed to his partner during a celebratory gathering at The Treasury.
Members of Plymouth’s Reform group had gathered for lunch following the inauguration of the city’s new Lord Mayor at the Crowne Plaza Plymouth when the afternoon suddenly turned into a moment nobody in the room was expecting.
With fellow councillors and supporters watching on, Andrew Crumplin surprised everyone by dropping to one knee inside The Treasury and asking his partner Lisa Church to marry him.
The proposal sparked cheers and applause from those present, with the celebratory atmosphere quickly turning into an unforgettable moment for the Reform team.
The gathering had originally been organised as a relaxed lunch following the formal Lord Mayor proceedings earlier in the day, but it soon became clear Andrew had something much bigger planned.
Friends and colleagues were said to be delighted for the couple, with many describing it as one of the standout moments of the day’s celebrations.
One thing is certain — it is not every day a political lunch in Plymouth turns into a surprise engagement party.
