A man was led away by police in handcuffs following a major emergency response in St Budeaux this morning.
An eyewitness at the scene told Plymouth Post that the incident began shortly after 6am.
Armed officers, police dog units, fire crews, ambulance crews and specialist police negotiators were called to Collin Close to deal with an incident at a residential property.
Ambulance personnel wearing protective clothing were seen at the scene. Residents said gas and electricity supplies had been turned off during the incident, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Police negotiators positioned themselves near the front door while the man stood at an upstairs window and shouted towards the emergency services below.
The situation was brought to an end and the man was led away from the property in handcuffs by police.
Plymouth police commander Temporary Chief Superintendent Doughty said: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding following the incident in St Budeaux this morning.
“The incident was isolated in nature, and I would like to reassure the public that there is no wider risk to the community.
“Any offences identified as part of our enquiries will be dealt with appropriately.”
Police have not yet released further information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
