Election Campaign Roundup: Doorstep Battle Heats Up Across Plymouth

6 May 2026

The Plymouth Post has been out across the city covering and photographing candidates as the local election campaign gathers pace, with Reform UK, Labour, the Green Party, Conservatives, and independent candidates all stepping up doorstep activity across Plymouth.

With polling day approaching, the focus is firmly on face-to-face conversations — and the message from all sides is the same: this election is being fought on the doorstep.

Reform UK candidates were in Manadon, speaking directly with residents as they continued their local campaign activity.

Labour candidates were in Compton, meeting voters and discussing key local issues affecting the community.

The Green Party were engaging with residents in Mount Gould, continuing their outreach and listening to local concerns.

Independent candidate Chaz Singh was in North Hill and the Drake ward, setting out his approach focused on ward-level priorities and standing outside traditional party politics.

The Conservative campaign was also active on the doorstep, with Andy Lugger, Rebecca Smith MP, and Dr John Mahony speaking with residents during canvassing in Plymstock Dunstone.

The Liberal Democrats were also contacted for comment, but had not responded at the time of publication.

All activity was observed and photographed separately by the Plymouth Post during campaign coverage across the city.

Across every campaign, one clear theme is emerging — direct conversations with residents are shaping this election.

As polling day draws closer, that activity is only expected to intensify.
