Enforcement Action Clears Citadel Road Encampment Ahead of Armed Forces Weekend
An enforcement operation took place today on Citadel Road, opposite the ramp leading up to the Hoe Promenade, removing two tents that had been pitched along the historic Citadel walls.
High Court enforcement officers, supported by Devon and Cornwall Police, executed a Combined Writ of Possession and Control obtained by Plymouth City Council. The clearance comes just days before Plymouth hosts thousands of visitors on the Hoe for Armed Forces Day this Saturday.

A site of such historic and national significance is no place for a long-term encampment, particularly with one of the city’s biggest events of the year about to bring huge crowds through the area.
At the same time, the people behind those tents are not just an obstacle to be moved on. The hope is that they can be connected with the support they need to find somewhere safe and secure, rather than relying on the streets.
