A large police cordon has been put in place across part of Plymouth city centre this morning, with detectives searching pathways in the area.
The cordon stretches along Raleigh Street towards New George Street, with the pedestrian walkway sealed off around the area leading towards the Grosvenor Casino and up towards the Plymouth Athenaeum at Derry’s Cross.
Three police vehicles are currently at the scene, while detectives have been seen searching sections of the cordoned-off pathways.
The reason for the police operation has not yet been confirmed.
People are being prevented from accessing the affected walkway while officers continue their work.

It is reported that police have said that three men have been arrested following an assault at Derrys Cross Roundabout in the early hours of Monday, 31 August. There are reports that a man sustained a suspected stab wound and was taken to hospital, with the injury not believed to be life-threatening. The three arrested men are understood to be two men in their 20s from Plymouth and a man in his 30s from London. They have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
