Police were called to Hyde Park shops in Hyde Park Road, following an incident outside a local café. Several police vehicles were seen in the area.
According to eyewitness Shaun Hooper, a Reform councillor, a man who appeared to have been drinking approached the café and asked for directions to Mutley Plain. He was directed towards Mutley Plain but then attempted to enter the café.

According to Mr Hooper, people outside the café refused him entry. As a police officer arrived, the man hid what appeared to be a knife. The officer approached him directly, telling him he was under arrest, and Mr Hooper said he assisted the officer in restraining the man, with further officers arriving shortly afterwards. The man was then handcuffed and led away from the scene.

Devon and Cornwall Police have been approached for confirmation and comment. None of the details in this report have been confirmed by police at this stage. Plymouth Post will bring further details as and when they become available.
