
Police take Michael McGreene away
A 37-year-old man has been charged following two separate incidents in Plymouth on Saturday, including an alleged attempted robbery of a man in his 80s and an incident in Hyde Park Road.

Michael McGreene, aged 37, of Alexandra Road, Mutley, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, two counts of assault by beating and attempted robbery.
He is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 17 August.

The first incident happened shortly before 10am on Saturday 15 August, when a man in his 80s was approached by two men as he walked to his car along a service lane towards Moor View Terrace.
Police said one of the suspects was carrying a knife and asked the victim for money. The man was allowed to leave unharmed after telling them he had no cash.
At 12.05pm, officers were then called to reports of a man acting aggressively towards others in Hyde Park Road.

The man was believed to be carrying a knife concealed in his clothing, police said.
Two young children were physically pushed during the incident, although no-one was injured.
Officers attended and a man was detained.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said:
“Two young children were physically pushed during the incident.
“No-one was injured.
“Officers attended and a man was detained.”

McGreene is due before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court today in connection with the charges.
