Tiago Muxanga: Rising Star and Commonwealth Silver Super-Welterweight Champion

Tiago Muxanga is emerging as one of boxing’s most exciting new professionals. Originally from Maputo, Mozambique, his style is defined by constant movement, rhythm, and balance, qualities that are immediately noticeable whether he is training or competing.

Now based in Plymouth, Tiago trains under coach Marlee Dann, focusing on refining every part of his game. Sessions emphasise footwork, timing, ring awareness, and controlled combinations, with each adjustment made deliberately to meet the demands of professional boxing.

Before turning professional, Tiago built an accomplished amateur career. He represented Mozambique at the 2024 Olympic Games and won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, experience that helped prepare him for the transition to the professional ranks.

That transition has already produced a notable success. Tiago claimed the Commonwealth Silver super-welterweight title after a ten-round bout decided by split decision against Asinia Byfield at the Brentwood Centre in Essex. The victory marked an important milestone and signalled his arrival as a serious contender in the professional division.

Balancing discipline with natural flair, Tiago brings athleticism, speed, and intelligence to every training session and fight. Still early in his professional career, the Plymouth-based boxer continues to build momentum, with further progress expected as his journey in the sport unfolds.
