A young Plymouth athlete is making a name for himself in the world of Olympic weightlifting after winning the English Age Group Championships.
Archie Robinson, aged 14, secured first place in his category at the national competition, marking a major achievement for the talented young lifter and highlighting his growing reputation in the sport.
Archie trains at Average Joe’s gym in Plymouth, where he dedicates an extraordinary amount of time to developing his strength and technique. His training schedule can see him in the gym for two to three hours a day, between five and ten sessions each week.
Olympic weightlifting is a highly technical sport that requires both explosive power and precision, with athletes competing in two lifts: the snatch and the clean and jerk. Archie’s success at the English Age Group Championships reflects the hard work, discipline and commitment he has put into mastering the sport at such a young age.
Those who know Archie say his dedication and focus mark him out as a bright prospect for the future of local weightlifting, with the potential to represent his country at even higher levels in the years ahead.
For Plymouth’s sporting community, Archie’s achievement is another example of young local talent rising through the ranks and making the city proud on the national stage.
