Two large trees have come crashing down in Plymouth as Storm Austen swept through the city on Friday, 23 October, with a car struck in Pennycross and a house narrowly escaping damage in Ernesettle.

In Fountains Crescent, Pennycross, a substantial tree fell onto the roof of a parked car. In Ernesettle, another large tree came down dangerously close to a house.

No injuries have been reported in either incident.
The powerful gusts also overturned bins and knocked over a motorcycle in residential streets.

Blue skies and sunshine have returned to Plymouth for now, but it remains blustery, and the fallen trees and scattered debris serve as a reminder of the strength of the storm.
