Plymouth’s first proper spell of rain for some time has quickly caused problems on Tavistock Road underneath the Crownhill Flyover.
At around 7am this morning, one lane of the A386 was flooded, with a vehicle seen stopped in the standing water.
Emergency services were also dealing with a serious collision involving a motorcyclist.
Police were called at 6.40am following a single-vehicle collision on the A386 beneath the Crownhill Flyover. A male motorcyclist came off his bike and suffered a serious leg injury.
He was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 06:42hrs on Thursday 27 August to a road traffic collision in Plymouth. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, a specialist paramedic, and a doctor to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Derriford Hospital.”
The road was partially closed following the collision and because of flooding on the carriageway.
Police said the management of the closure of one lane was taken over by Highways at around 9.25am.
