Police have confirmed they are investigating a reported sexual assault at Blagdon’s Meadow in Plymouth after forensic officers were seen examining the area on Saturday.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called at around 6.50pm on Friday, September 25, following a report of a sexual assault at the meadow, off Embankment Road.
Police said it was reported that a woman had been threatened before being assaulted by an unknown suspect.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect, while the victim is being supported.
The confirmation follows a Plymouth Post report on Saturday after a police vehicle and forensic services van were seen at Blagdon’s Meadow.
A police officer was guarding an area around bushes while a forensic officer wearing protective clothing photographed the scene and appeared to take samples.
At that stage, police had not confirmed the nature of the incident or what officers were investigating.
Devon and Cornwall Police have now confirmed the investigation and are appealing for anyone who may be able to assist officers to come forward.
