Plymouth Ladies Enjoy a Brand-New Ladies‑Only Gym
Plymouth has a unique space dedicated entirely to women’s fitness with the opening of Gymophobics, a ladies‑only gym at the Christian Mill Business Park.
The gym officially opened in July by Carol Szor and her daughter Hannah Williams, who wanted to create a supportive, welcoming environment where women can exercise with confidence.
Gymophobics offers 30‑minute workout sessions designed to fit into busy schedules, with a friendly instructor always on hand to provide guidance and encouragement. Members also receive helpful tips on what to wear, there’s no need for designer or expensive gym clothing; comfort is what matters most.
During a recent visit, we saw the ladies laughing, chatting, and clearly enjoying themselves. They were relaxed and comfortable, taking part in the sessions while enjoying each other’s company, making it clear that Gymophobics is about more than just working out; it’s also about having fun and feeling part of a supportive community.
Adding to the welcoming atmosphere is a coffee lounge, where members can relax and connect after their workout, further strengthening the sense of community.
Carol Szor said: “We wanted to create a place where women feel completely at ease while working on their health and wellbeing. It’s about confidence, encouragement, and enjoying fitness together.”
Hannah Williams added: “When new members come to the gym, we take our time to really get to know them. It’s important to us that everyone feels comfortable and supported from day one.
