Plymouth boxer says the ‘fight of his life’ was trying to get a McDonald’s collectible cup
Plymouth boxer Josh King has joked that the toughest contest he’s faced recently wasn’t in the ring it was trying to get his hands on a McDonald’s collectible cup.
Josh says he visited the McDonald’s restaurant at Coypool in Plympton to buy meals for his children, expecting to receive one of the limited edition World Cup football themed collectible cups. But when he got home, he discovered there wasn’t one in the bag.
Believing it was an honest mistake, he returned to the restaurant a couple of days later while buying more food and explained what had happened.
According to Josh, staff asked to see his receipt. Although he’d already thrown away the paper copy, he showed the payment on his phone to prove he’d made the purchase.
Even then, he says he left empty handed.
With a smile, Josh joked that the whole saga had become “the fight of my life” all over a promotional cup.
Plymouth Post has contacted McDonald’s for comment and invited the company to respond to Josh’s account. At the time of publication, no response had been received.
Have you managed to collect the McDonald’s World Cup cups, or have you missed out too?
