A carpet python has been rescued by members of the public after reportedly being spotted near West Hoe Park for several days.
The snake was found near the Gus Honeybun train ride, opposite the wet wok. People working on a nearby building site and others in the area used a ladder to search around the spot where it had been seen.
After searching, they found the carpet python and placed it in a bag. A woman with experience handling snakes has since taken it to a rescue home.
A small crowd gathered as the rescue unfolded. Emergency services had been called to look for the snake the previous night but were unable to find it.
