This week’s flashback takes us to a demonstration outside the Duke of Cornwall Hotel during a visit to Plymouth by then Home Secretary Michael Howard. The Plymouth Pavilions can be seen in the background.
The photograph offers a striking look at how police officers were dressed and equipped in the 1990s. No high visibility clothing or visible body armour, people are used to seeing on officers today.
Officers are dealing with a man on the road as the demonstration unfolds. The photograph captures a moment from the day, as well as the very different appearance of policing in Plymouth at the time.
Do you remember the demonstration, or the way Officers Policed in the 1990s?
