Plymouth People | D.I.R.T Are Making Noise

19 May 2026

D.I.R.T (Drunk In Rebellious Times) are a four-piece rock outfit formed in 2024 by Devonshire locals Joe, Mike, Tommo, and Gruff.

Joe and Gruff first crossed paths as tattoo artists, while Mike and Tommo are lifelong friends and that chemistry has carried straight into the band.

Joe and Gruff swap guitar and vocal duties, creating a raw, back and forth energy at the front of the stage.

Mike delivers hard-hitting, straight down the line drumming.

Tommo locks it all together with bass lines built on groove and weight.

From day one, they’ve been grafting writing, scrapping, and rebuilding songs in a loft studio before taking them straight to the stage.

That work ethic has quickly built them a reputation for high-energy, no-nonsense live shows.

Their sound blends blues grit, flashes of Latin influence, touches of country, and full-throttle rock when it counts familiar in places, but never predictable.

In winter 2025, the band stepped back from live shows to record their debut self-titled album, released May 16, with a launch show at Kitty O’Hanlon’s in Plymouth marking a major milestone.

Now they’re back pushing forward new material, new videos, and more shows on the horizon.

In a time when grassroots bands are having to work harder than ever to be heard, D.I.R.T are building theirs the old way from the ground up.

Do you think Plymouth still gives enough support and opportunities for new grassroots bands to break through?
